CANAAN — Ann L. (Wilson) Tierney, 58, of 59 College Hill Road, died Thursday morning, March 17, 2016 at Sharon Hospital after a valiant six-year battle with Parkinson's disease. She was the wife and soulmate of William A. Tierney.


She was born June 7, 1957 in Great Barrington, Mass., daughter of the late Richard and Dorothy (Bagnaschi) Wilson. Ann was a lifelong resident of Canaan. She was a graduate of Housatonic Regional High School.


Ann was employed by the Becton Dickinson Co. in Canaan. She was in her 37th year of service to BD. Ann began her career as a fork lift operator and had worked her way to become a quality analyst. Ann was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Canaan.


She enjoyed gardening and cooking. Ann was also an accomplished curler. She had been a member of the Norfolk Curling Club for more than 30 years. She had traveled to competitions in the United States, Canada and Scotland.


In addition to her husband, Ann is survived by her aunt Florence Wilson of Canaan, her brother Butch Bagnaschi and his wife Nancy of Canaan; her nieces, Teresa and Bob Jacquier and their daughter, Kayla, Denise and Chris Sorrell and their children Brandon, Caitlin, Lauren and Justin, all of Canaan; her brother- in-law and sister-in-law Timothy C. Tierney and Sue Tierney of Marlton, N.J. and their daughters, Jennifer and Katheryn; Michael Tierney of McGrath, Ark.; Ann's goddaughter Mary Elizabeth Fulco of Monroe, Conn.; her special aunt, Sally Curtiss of Canaan; stepdaughters Terri and Bill Dever of Hanson, Mass. and their children Abigail, Patrick and Aiden, Debbie Smith of Norwalk, Conn. and her children Brad, William and Jack, and the late Jerri Muller and her special daughter Kaleigh Ryalls.


Ann is also survived by numerous cousins, special friends, Tony and Jeanine Hodgkiss of Canaan, Regina Silk of Winsted and many other wonderful friends from BD and the Curling Club.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 4 Main St., North Canaan, CT 06018. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Norfolk, Conn. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 from 4 until 8 p.m. in the Newkirk-Palmer Funeral Home, 118 Main St., North Canaan, CT 06018.

Ann's family would like to acknowledge the care and professionalism of the staffs of the Yale Medical Center and Sharon Hospital, along with the care given by Companions and Homemakers, especially Sarah Fisher, and the Chore Service, especially Connie Green.


Ann was an amazing, giving, loving and selfless person who was loved by many. She made a difference in the lives of people she met.
